During September 1916 a number of Inverell district men were transferred from the 33rd Battalion to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 53rd, 56th Battalions and the 9th Brigade prior to being sent to France.
Private Turner noted in his diary on 11 September 1916 that a 'draft of 45 men left this camp for somewhere'. On 25th September he noted that 'new men came into our Battlaion'.
The men still in camp in England were busy with drill, long route marches and preparations for the King's review of overseas troops.
