Florence, a daughter of Patrick and Sussanah Maher of Inverell, passed the Australian Trained Nurses Membership Examination for General Nurses in December 1915 and was appointed Head Nurse at Inverell Hospital in September 1916.
By March 1918 she had volunteered for War service and was expecting to leave for overseas any day. No enlistment papers have been found for her, however she may have been working in one of the Sydney Military Hospitals. In early 1919, whilst in Sydney, Florence became ill with pneumonic influenza.
No further information is known about Florence.
