About Us
This website began following the formation of The Inverelll Kurrajong Re-enactment Committee Inc at a public meeting in December 2013. Their Mission was to recognise and commemorate the contribution of the Inverell District to World War 1, including a re-enactment of the 1916 Kurrajong Recruiting March.
The Committee comprised of several relatives of Kurrajong men and other World War 1 soldiers, along with members of various local organisations such as Red Cross, Legacy, Inverell RSL Sub-Branch, Inverell Art Gallery, sporting organisations as well as local historians.
In addition to other commemorative events, the re-enactment of Inverell's 1916 snowball recruiting march was the catalyst to remember the extraordinary efforts of all the district's soldiers, nurses and the community during World War 1.
Now that the WW1 Anzac Centenary has passed, and the response to the Committee's research has exceeded expectations, the decision has been made to continue the website for the short term.
