HARRIS, Kenneth James

Kenneth’s birth to Christopher and Amelia Harris was registered at Singleton NSW in 1895. He was one of eight children born before the family moved to Inverell about 1903. He grew up at Inverell and was a student at Ross Hill Public School. His father was a builder and Kenneth worked with him prior to enlistment in Sydney in November 1916 when he was twenty-one years old.

As a member of the 14th Field Company Engineers, he sailed from Melbourne to England on the ship Clan McGillivray in May 1917. He was sent to France in October and Killed in action in September 1918.

Kenneth was buried at Perone Communal Cemetery Extension, France. His older brother Charles enlisted in 1915 and served in France, returning to Australia in March 1919.
