HARDY, Henry Ernest

Henry was a son of Charles and Elizabeth Hardy of Inverell. He enlisted at Liverpool NSW in September 1914, giving his age as twenty four and his occupation as a Miner. He joined the 13th Battalion, G Company and sailed from Australia for Egypt on the transport A38 Ulysses in December 1914.

Henry served at Gallipoli where he was wounded in action and sent to England with a gunshot wound to his head. He was treated at the 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield where the decision was made to return him to Australia. After arriving on board the Hospital Transport Runic in December 1915, he was medically discharged in May 1916.

Henry married in 1918 and lived in Sydney until his death in 1959. His name is recorded on the Inverell Honor Roll.
